Dry Eye Disease (DED) occurs when your eyes are not making enough tears, or your tears are not normal. Along with dry eye, inflammation of the surface of the eye may occur. Your eye doctor may call it “dry eye disease,” “dry eye syndrome,” or simply “dry eye.” No matter what you call it, dry eye symptoms may affect up to 21% of Canadians. Dry eye can affect patients in a number of ways, and may cause dry, itchy, gritty or burning sensations.
